John Docwra and Margaret Turpyn, Marriage at Clerkenwell, London, 1526
Memorandum The iijd of November the xviii year of King Henry VIII, within the house of St. John's, Clerkenwell, in the Buttery of the same, my Lord Sir Thomas Docwra, Prior there, being the same time present, John Docwra son and heir of Thomas Docwra of Kirkeby Kendale in the County of Westmoreland, Gentleman, being of the age of xviii years and more, and Margaret Turpyn second daughter and heir of Edward Turpyn, late departed of the County of Leicestershire, gentlewoman., being of the full age of xiii years, di and more, or there mere freewill and mind, without fear, dread or compulsion of any mean the said John toke unto his wife the foresaid Margaret, and the said Margaret toke unto her husband the foresaid John, and thereunto either to other plighte and gave their faith and trewthe, desiring and requiring witnesses for the same: Dame Elizabeth Chomley, Rowland Brugh, Thos. Chicheley, John Docwra, Thos. Darke and William Bardesey with diverse other at that time being present
