The webpage says the Prior Docwra image is from Titles of Honor. Can someone confirm this/give p.No?

The guestbook is suffering from automated spam. To prevent this I have set a message size limit which real users can handle but scripts can't. This means that your message will only show if it is exactly a hundred characters long. Characters include punctuation and spaces. As soon as I can install a better option I shall do - sorry for the inconvenience meanwhile.

I'm just a little concerned that your e-mail addresses have stopped working.
I do hope everything is alright ?

Frank

Anne:
Hi Frank, yes fine thanks, just snowed under with work. I've had hardly any time to do Docwra research for ages but I do check the Guestbook daily and delete the spammers. Hope all's well with you.

I am not a Docwra, but have a little Docwra blood in me. My 6X great grandparents were Abel Titmus and Sarah Docra who married in Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire, 15 Oct. 1777. I was very interested to see what interesting Docwra ancestors I have!
Via the internet (and I can't vouch for 100% accuracy as it is other peoples' research, not my own) I have managed to link a few family trees together which trace the Docwra ancestry back(via John Docwra 1489- 1531, of Temple Dinsley) through the St George, D'Argentine, Darcy, Bertram, De Lucy, and De Boulougne families back to Alfred the Great. If anyone else is interested, let me know and I will email you what I have found. There's some pretty interesting characters along the way!

Does anyone have any information on any Docwra's living in Battersea London in the 1930's, or Brighton/Hove area in the 1950 / 60's.

Very interesting website, particularly on Sir William, the grand prior. Is it possible that other Docwras were members of the order after him? Perhaps one was present at the seige of Malta?

My maternal line (Pigot/Piggott) -- in my current knowledge -- goes back to Robert Pigott Docwra, son of Robert Rowland [Lacey] Piggott and Eizabeth Docra. From Guilden Morden the line moved to Wisbech St Mary, and then into Norfolk. The last of my direct-line male Pigots lies in Doullens Cemetery on the Somme

Any guidance on further research and possible connections gratefully received. Meawhile, many thanks for my pickings of this database.

This is a brilliant site. Have only just started investigating the Docwra area of my family history - my paternal grandfather's mother was a Docwra from Royston, Herts - Ann Docwra b. 1856, daughter of Thomas and Lydia Docwra. Ann married James Wilkerson in Royston in 1875 and within a year had given birth to my grandfather James, and been widowed days afterwards. Ann married again in 1884, Henry J Deer, had a daughter, Alice. and two sons, Charles and Henry. I have recently beenn contacted by a descendent of Alice's, which has urged me in to find out more about the Docwras. My paternal grandmother, James's wife, had close connection with the Docwras too, but that's another intriguing story!

My great-great grandfather was Richard Dockray who married Mary-Ann Graham in 1836.One of their daughters Rebecca married Joseph Miles in Workington in 1872,they then came to N.Z.and started our lot. I would love to hear from anyone and everyone. regards Judy
