Edmund de Hoton, granted land of Plumpton by Henry, King of England [Henry I - 1100-1135] grandfather of King Henry the King's Father, by service of two knights.
Had descendant (exact lineage uncertain) called Adam de Hoton, who paid relief in 1168, and died 1206. His land was of the King's Gift, land worth 2s/year and held it by Serjeantry.
Adam's wife was Alice by whom he had two sons:
[1] William de Hoton, an infant in 1206, entitled to Hoton 1212. Held Hoton of the King by Serjeantry of keeping the King's Hay of Plumpton (in the time of King John's son King Henry [Henry III 1216-1272] as a tenant in cornage he was to go at the King's precept in the Army of Scotland, viz. going in the vanguard and returning in the rearguard.
[2] Thomas de Hoton, died 1247. Thomas son of Adam holds the Manor of Hoton by Serjeantry of keeping the King's Hay at Plumpton. Thomas had a daughter, Cecilia, b.abt.1227, died 1266. She married Nicholas le Venur, who was mentioned in 1247 in some official document. Their daughter was Bertha, b.abt.1243, died 1311-2. Bertha married Thomas de Docwra the elder, mentioned 1278/9, and their son was Thomas de Docwra, b.abt.1272
