Lineage. Sir Henry Dockwra, Knight, a distinguished soldier in the Irish wars of the reign of Elizabeth, was created Baron Dockwra of Culmore, Co. Derry, by patent dated at Westminster, 15 May 1621.
Lord Dockwra, who was treasurer at war, one of the Privy Council, and governor of Loughfoyle, received a grant of lands in the Co. Wicklow, 4 August, 1628. He married Anne, daughter of Frances Vaughan of Sutton-upon-Derent, and by her (whose will bears the date 20 July 11648) he had issue:

Henry, died 25 December 1627, and was buried in Christ Church, Dublin.
Frances, died unmarried 26 June 1627, and was buried in Christ Church, Dublin.
Anne, married Captain William Shore, and died 22 December 1657.
Elizabeth, married Sir Henry Brooke, governor of Donegall, was buried in Christ Church, Dublin, leaving two sons, George and Henry.
Lord Dockwra (whose will bears the date 10 March 1630) died 18 April 1631, and the title was inherited by his elder son, Theodore.
Sir Theodore Dockwra, Knight, 2nd Baron Culmore, at age 21 in 1631. He died unmarried whereupon the title became extinct.
